Under their fastback bodies, the BMW X4 M 2020 and the BMW X4 M Competition 2020 are packing muscle without setbacks. These hot bars are coming to BMW dealerships this fall to take their place among the rest of the brand’s performance SUVs, including the new BMW X3 M, which arrives around the same time.
The Model M Sport – performance for the BMW X4. The dynamic front apron breathes motor racing with its large air intakes and powerful side skirts. Inside, the ‘Vernasca’ black leather sports seats with red contrast stitching and the M leather steering wheel offer maximum comfort and control.

Interior and Technology
The X4 M has not officially debuted, but we expect the cabin to arrive as agile as the standard model; Sports seats, spicier interior trim and more abundant standard features are probably additions here. The sloping roof line does not get into the passenger space of the rear seats as much as expected, and most mid-rise passengers will find that the rear seat is very comfortable. Infotainment of the touchscreen with navigation is likely to be standard, as is a list of driver assistance technology, including automated emergency braking.
Motors, Ride and Drive
Both models come with a six-line turbocharged, standard four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The X4 M engine will be tuned to produce 473 horsepower, but the Competition model is marked up to 503. The last X4 we tested, an M40i model, jumped from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, so we hope that These M models break the 4.0 second mark on our test track. They will have to do it if they want to continue the day with the Mercedes-AMG GLC63; that beast exploded from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. The driving character of the X4 is already quite sharp, but the readjustment of the M division suspension will surely harden things further, we will know more when we have a chance at the wheel.
