Overview
Chevy has completely overhauled its most powerful carriers for 2020 with the new Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD. These heavy-duty trucks now have higher towing ratings than rivals like the Ram HD and Ford Super Duty, with a maximum of 35,500 pounds. Interior and Technology
The trucks have a broader spectrum of interior configurations and available technology. The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD runs the gamut from stripped work trucks to clothed crew cabins. They all feature a mountainous dash packed with easy-to-use switch gear. The mandatory crew cab, the short box configuration has a longer wheelbase than the previous generation and provides more space for passengers. While even the most stylish models cannot match the Ram HD’s material quality and sophistication, its cab and features still manage to transcend typical truck luxuries. The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD is also available with a new camera system that Chevy claims eliminates most blind spots. The latest driver assistance technology includes standard and optional equipment such as driver-selectable engine brake, automatic grade braking, trailer sway control and much more.

Motors, Ride and Driving
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD have a standard 6.6-liter gas-powered V-8 that is all new and produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The gas engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission, but this configuration can only tow up to 17,400 lbs. We drove this powertrain through the mountains while towing 12,000 pounds and were impressed by its capacity. The optional V-8 Diesel Diesel carries over from the previous generation and still produces 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet. Diesel connects to a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission; This combination earned its most expensive sticker while towing another 2,000 pounds in the same unit. We confirm that the Duramax is the best option for those who regularly tow heavy loads.
