2020 BENTLEY MULSANNE Review, Prices and Specs

Wealthy people like to show off their wealth almost as much as they like to be crazy, and the Bentley Mulsanne 2020 helps them do both. The handmade sedan is the patriarch of the Bentley family, with a stunning exterior appearance and an intimate cabin experience. Its punchy dual-turbo V-8 provides effortless acceleration, and the Mulsanne is surprisingly nimble for its size. This combination gives the Mulsanne the performance to ensure its passengers arrive on time and in style. Inside, elegance is realized through rich sedan ornamentation, opulent features, and expansive spaciousness. Although the Mulsanne 2020 is a shining example of excess and status, that is precisely what Bentley customers are yearning for.

Interior, Comfort and Cargo
Manufactured with the best materials and equipped with luxury features, the Mulsanne cabin is a utopia compared to most cars. The leather tangled space can be personalized with a variety of color schemes, sheet metal options, and creature comforts like front and rear massage seats. Everything from the door handles to the switching gear feels expensive, with smooth, deliberate movements that infer wealth. While the front seats face a timelessly designed dashboard, the Mulsanne’s main draw is at the rear. Although the regular model is not short on passenger space, the extended version transforms the rear seats into a studio setting. With its 9.8-inch stretched wheelbase, there’s plenty of room to stretch and enjoy the available power-powered legrests. Of course, the Mulsanne also has plenty of cubby interior storage and a huge trunk that can store plenty of luggage.

Infotainment and connectivity
Each Mulsanne has an 8.0-inch infotainment system and 14-speaker audio system as standard, but a 20-speaker Naim system is optional and comes with a built-in 20GB hard drive for storing music. The Mulsanne can also be equipped with two rear 10.4-inch entertainment displays that can be detached and used as tablets.

Engine, Transmission and Performance
The Mulsanne is powered by a dual-turbocharged 505-hp V-8 transmission that spins the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is effortless and engine power seems endless. In fact, the great Mulsanne rushes in like a much smaller sedan. Although perfect for chauffeur service, the Bentley is also a driver’s car, with a sharp steering and a tuned chassis. Despite its size, the Mulsanne feels surprisingly comfortable in the narrow city streets and parking lots.

Fuel economy and real-world MPG
Unlike major rivals like the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost, the Mulsanne powers an eight-cylinder engine against a 12-cylinder. Despite having fewer cylinders, the Bentley’s block is actually bigger and thirsty. The EPA estimates that the Mulsanne will earn 16 mpg on the highway and 10 mpg in the city. For comparison, the S650 is rated at 13/21 city / highway mpg and the Phantom has estimates of 12 city and 18 highway mpg. We haven’t tested any of these huge sedans on our 75 mph fuel economy route, so we can’t assess their real-world highway mpg.

Driver Assistance and Safety Features
The 2020 Mulsanne has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Bentley provides driver assistance technology such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring as standard, but charges extra for adaptive cruise control. Key safety features include: standard frontal collision warning and automated emergency braking. Standard blind spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control available.

Warranty and maintenance coverage
Bentley backs its luxurious line with a three-year warranty and unlimited miles, but equally quirky alternatives like Rolls-Royce offer even better coverage. Bentley also offers some free maintenance measures. The limited warranty covers three years or unlimited miles. The powertrain warranty covers three years or unlimited miles. Free maintenance is covered for 1 year or 10,000 miles.
